Un grupo de hombres que portaba armas de fuego y bombas asaltaron el miércoles el Parlamento de Irán y el mausoleo del ayatola Jomenei, en dos ataques casi simultáneos que dejaron al menos 12 muertos, informaron medios locales.
El Estado Islámico se atribuyó la responsabilidad de los ataques y publicó un video que aparentemente mostraba a hombres armados dentro del edificio del Parlamento y a un sujeto que parecía herido, en el suelo.
Estos ataques han sido los primeros reivindicados por el grupo militante suní en el país chií, uno de los que lidera la lucha contra Estado Islámico en los vecinos Iraq y Siria.
Los atacantes, vestidos como mujeres, irrumpieron por la entrada principal del Parlamento, dijo el viceministro del Interior, Mohamad Hosein Zolfaghari, según la agencia de noticias semioficial Tasnim.
Unas cinco horas después de las primeras informaciones, las agencias de noticias iraníes decían que las cuatro personas que habían atacado el Parlamento estaban muertas y que el incidente había terminado.
Al menos 12 personas fueron asesinadas por los atacantes, dijo el director del departamento de emergencias de Irán, Pir-Hosein Kolivand, citado en la canal de televisión estatal IRIB.
"Estaba dentro del Parlamento cuando ocurrió el tiroteo. Todo el mundo estaba horrorizado y con miedo. Vi a dos hombres disparando aleatoriamente", dijo un periodista que se encontraba en el lugar y que no quiso ser identificado.
Poco después del asalto al Parlamento, otro suicida detonó su carga explosiva cerca del santuario del fundador de la República, el ayatola Jomeini, ubicado al sur de la ciudad, dijo Zolfaghari, según Tasnim.
Un segundo atacante fue abatido a tiros por la policía y murió, añadió.
El ministro de Inteligencia dijo que las fuerzas de seguridad habían arrestado a otro "equipo terrorista" que planeaba un tercer ataque, sin dar más detalles.
Los atentados tuvieron lugar menos de un mes después de la reelección del presidente Hasan Rouhani, un moderado que derrotó a los candidatos apoyados por la élite clerical y por los Guardianes de la Revolución, responsables de la seguridad nacional.
"La atmósfera es tensa. Es un golpe a Rouhani ¿Cómo pueden entrar cuatro hombres armados al Parlamento, donde siempre ha habido una seguridad muy fuerte?", dijo un funcionario que pidió no se identificado.
