Volkswagen ha informado que posee 37 instalaciones parecidas en todo Estados Unidos con capacidad de albergar cerca de 300 mil vehículos.

El fabricante alemán tomó la decisión de recomprar casi 300 mil vehículos diésel de Estados Unidos tras ser denunciado por alterar sus autos diésel para falsificar el nivel real de emisiones contaminantes.
Hasta el momento, el monto de las recompra de los vehículos ascendería a 7.400 millones de dólares.

Tras los reclamos de propietarios, reguladores ambientales, estados y concesionarios, Volkswagen se ofreció a gastar más de 25 millones de dólares en Estados Unidos y se ofreció a recomprar alrededor de 500,000 vehículos contaminantes hasta finales de 2019.

La portavoz de Volkswagen, Jeannine Ginivan, comentó que esta es una medida “provisional” y aseguró la empresa están realizando trabajos para “garantizar la operabilidad de los vehículos a largo plazo” en caso que reingresen al mercado.
